Zeroslip UK Ltd recently completed the installation of Anti-Slip stair nosings, stair covers and anti-slip sheets to various emergency exit metal staircases and a disabled access ramp as part of on-going safety improvements at Wakefield Grammar School Foundation. A total of 7 fire escape staircases and one disabled access ramp were made slip-resistant using our specially manufactured GRP nosings and sheets.

A problem with slip risk was first highlighted during a fire drill when a pupil slipped and fell during the drill resulting in a bottleneck of pupils not being able to escape in the allocated time scale, this caused concern with the members of staff and pupils resulting in a programme of safety improvements being introduced.

Jonathan Rogers (MD at Zeroslip) was happy to advise and ensure that moving forward all the staircases within the site would be made slip resistant, this would drastically reduce the risk of a slip accident during a practice drill or more importantly during a real fire evacuation.
